The lakes and surrounding cliffs and waterfalls are fantastically impressive, you have to accept the large volume of people but it is unequivocally worth it.

Plitvice Lakes are a UNESCO work heritage site and it’s not hard to see why. There's a huge amount to see and you could easily spend a full day or two walking around the area.

The water is crystal clear and so inviting the urge to jump in was intense especially as it was so hot, unfortunately it’s not allowed at this site.

You really have to see this place to believe it, the colours are out of this world and you won’t fail to get some impressive photos here.

We stayed as the HUGE Camp Borje campsite, which is just a 10 minute drive from the lakes. It took us a while to find the entrance as google maps has it in the slightly wrong place but once you get there you can it by the big wooden entrance building. There’s lots of space and you can choose where you want to pitch up. There’s several toilet and shower blocks so there’s always one not too far away. There’s a bar/cafe and a decent restaurant on site.
