Published 6 August 2017The Lednice Castle and Cultural Landscape is a lovely day out. You can go on a tour of the historic chateau, wander round the architecturally beautiful playhouse or walk round the extensive tranquil grounds. The tour of the house and palm house charge a small fee but the grounds are free.
Take a picnic if you can as the nearby restaurants are expensive and mediocre.
You can park in the carpark just across the road from the entrance for a small charge. Get there early if possible as it gets quite full.
We stayed at Valtice Hostel and Camping , which is just 5 minutes drive from the castle. As happened a few times on our Road Trip (full post here) we ended up arriving late and just pitched up in the grounds. The staff very amenable and didn’t mind when we went in to pay in the morning.
The grounds are a little bit creepy if you arrive at twilight as we did and I wondered if we would ever be seen again, ha ha, just joking. I didn’t manage to get a photo but we did see a dear running across the grounds.
Also good to note take some food as we found the local restaurants in Valtice closed very early and we couldn’t get any dinner :-(
