We camped just outside Amsterdam for one night at  Zeeburg Camping . Checkin was super easy. We parked the car in the small car park out from, paid at reception and they gave us a tag for our tent. They showed us a map of the site and we could pitch up anywhere on the main field. We thought the layout of the site was particularly good as the cars park around the edge of the field with the tents in the middle, meaning you are pretty near your car but without the issue of having to try and drive out when tents have filled the spaces the way you drove in.

We arrived during a fairly heavy downpour so we decided to spread out a groundsheet to save a spot and come back later when it was a bit drier to put up the tent.

It was really easy to get from the campsite to the city centre. We took the tram which stops just a ten minute walk from the site. We spent the afternoon exploring the city centre and sightseeing.

We really liked Zeeburg. There were lots of facilities on site; showers, cooking area, restaurant/bar, a shop, plus bike and boat hire. They have a really useful website with lots of info in both Dutch and English.

As you might guess there were a few, ahem, ‘wasted’ people about on the site but the atmosphere was good and I’d still say it felt like a safe site and suitable for most types of campers except those who are looking for real peace and quiet.
